What is ClariRec?
ClariRec is a professional OCR tool for macOS. It’s built for anyone who needs to quickly extract text from screenshots, images, or clipboard content — developers copying code, researchers pulling quotes, or anyone who frequently converts images to text.
By default, OCR stays on-device. If you enable BYOK OCR or translation, selected screenshots and text go directly to the provider or endpoint you configure, not to ClariRec-operated servers.
Key Features
clarirec:// URL scheme or Shortcuts to trigger OCR and translation from external apps or scripts.
Three Display Modes
Multi-language UI
Interface available in 7 languages: English, 简体中文, Deutsch, Français, 日本語, Español, Русский.
Privacy First
ClariRec is built with privacy as a core principle:
🔒 Local by Default
System OCR processing happens on your device using macOS Vision Framework.
🚫 No ClariRec Content Relay
ClariRec does not operate servers that receive your screenshots, OCR results, or translation text.
📊 No App Analytics SDKs
The app does not include analytics or telemetry SDKs. Local diagnostics are for troubleshooting only and are not sent to ClariRec-operated servers.
🔑 BYOK Optional
Third-party APIs are used only when you configure them, and selected content goes directly to the provider or compatible endpoint you configure. Keys stay in macOS Keychain.
